i know there is a lot of drama associated with chick-fil-a right now,
but i wanted to share my heart on the issue.
my children and i,
along with a huge crowd of people,
showed up at our local
chick-fil-a yesterday for lunch.
nobody was saying/yelling anything mean,
nobody was protesting,
nobody was showing any kind of violence,
nobody was breaking any laws.
i didn't go because i hate gays and lesbians,
i didn't go because i'm agaist same sex marriage,
i didn't go because i'm mad,
i didn't go because of retaliation of any kind.
i went to support our local chick-fil-a.
i went because i thought it would be fun for my children.
i went because chick-fil-a does so many great things for our community.
i went because i share the same family values as they do.
since when did supporting something
mean hating something else?
i was surprised at the volume of people
that felt the same as i did.
i saw a priest, a cop, and several mom's with all of their children.
everyone was very nice (smiling) and used the word "support"
to express their reason for showing up
on a very crowded summer day.
the owner/founder of chick-fil-a did nothing
wrong in my eyes and got attacked undeservingly.
he shared his christian beliefs on a christian program.
his message was not to provoke the world,
but a statement to other christian believers.
again...
support was the motive in many hearts yesterday.
support is pure.
support is not condemning.
support is loving.
i don't view myself as someone who judges others
and i certainly don't spend my time condemning anyone
and would never teach my children to do that either.
just wanted to share my heart :)
Great thoughts you shared :)
