last weekend almost seems like a blur.
friday was my father-in-law's birthday.
we went to luling and had supper and cake.
i made him a whopper's cake for fun.
saturday was the longest day ever.
our children competed in the psia competition.
(this is a private school's url meet.)
it pretty much consists of cramming as many kids and parents as possible in one of the school's cafeteria while we nervously wait until our time to compete.
our children did great. many of our hill country students are headed to state.
this was cari's first time to be able to participate and she entered in for creative writing.
she had the most fun hanging out with her classmates.
i'm so proud of her for doing her best.
camille is a former state competitor in storytelling and competed in spelling last year.
this year she tried music memory and this was her final year for storytelling.
(she is listening to 16 different classical pieces before the test.)
she made it to the finals for storytelling only to be told she could not compete because she would not be finished with music memory in time.
this was upsetting and i could write a whole book about this one lady that made my life miserable for several hours, but it all went away when we found out that camille got first place in music memory!
she qualified for the state which means we will be taking another trip to fort worth the weekend of may 5th.
it is always held at tcu.
this is a very hard competition and we are so proud of her. i would much rather her go and compete at state for this competition because in storytelling they have to dress up and perform on stage. it was completely nerve-racking that year.
(their ribbons on display on our family tack board :)
while waiting for the results, we went and got cupcakes and did a little fun shopping.
(next time you are in the new braunfels/gruene area you must stop by.
after our 8 hour day, we then followed it with a birthday party.
it was a lego party for one of cari's good buddies.
cari as a lego
on sunday we snuck out of church early and went to go see the muppet's (which was cute) at the new alamo draft house that just opened up in south austin. we were the very first show! they were training their staff so we got a big discount on the movie and our food. it was much needed after our hectic saturday.
we plan on going back to the same theater for the midnight showing of hunger games in a few weeks.
(which will be another blurry weekend :)
Congrats Cami!
